The “Orchid Model” is the program that is used at the Orchid Recovery Center, a substance abuse rehabilitation center in South Florida that caters specifically to female patients. The Orchid Model was developed by Dr. Karen Dodge and it depends upon an interdependent network of females. The Orchid Model is helpful to female substance abuse patients because it caters to their unique needs, rather than trying to make a program work for both genders.

My therapist Marianne worked closer with me than anyone ever had before. I was able to talk about my issues (all of my issues) in a safe place where I never once felt judged. The Orchid Recovery Center is a drug and alcohol addiction treatment facility. It treats women exclusively, because recovery processes differ between genders. Their progressive techniques have proven very successful over time.

Opiates, stimulants, and depressants are prescribed to people all around the world every day with the intention of relieving medical symptoms, reduce depression and anxiety, and to generally help people improve their mental, emotional, and physical health. Unfortunately, taking these drugs for any length of time can lead to addiction or dependency; dependency on any substance can have a negative impact on a person’s life in every aspect including their health as well as their social and family lives. Thanks to the Orchid Recovery Center, women with prescription drug addiction can become dependency free and lead a clean life.

Different individuals respond better to some treatment methods than others, and similarly different groups of people have also been proven to find certain types of rehabilitation more effective than others. The Orchid Recovery Center is one of few treatment centers that is geared specifically and solely towards women, implementing those techniques that have been proven to be more effective for women than other techniques. Men and women do react differently to certain aspects of rehabilitation, and for women relational group techniques have proven among the most effective of all treatments.

While the Orchid Recovery Center recognizes that women are better suited to group treatments from other women that have experienced the same problems as they are experiencing, Orchid also recognizes that the best course of treatment for any patient is tailored more specifically to their own requirements, their own circumstances, and their own dependencies. As such, an individually tailored plan is drawn up with every new patient that outlines the steps they should take in their quest for a clean life.
